Tuition Fees

At the University of Cumbria, our tuition fees for 2017/18 entry are:

Full-time Honours Degree £9,250*
Foundation Degree £9,250*
Integrated Foundation Degree £6,000

* Subject to Government confirmation - Tuition fees will increase in line with inflation.

Maintenance Loan

The maintenance loan is to help with the costs incurred with going to university. From 2016/17 all means tested student maintenance grants will be replaced with loans.

The maintenance loan varies depending on a parent/carer’s household income, whether your son or daughter is studying at home or away, and the location of their study. For example*:

The loan is paid directly to the student in 3 termly instalments.


Repayment of student loans is based on how much the graduate earns (not how much they owe), they need to be earning over £21,000 to start repayment. These will begin the April following graduation. Their repayments are automatically deducted from their salary like national insurance and tax. If their salary falls below £21,000, repayments will stop.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Students who fit certain requirements will qualify for a scholarship or a bursary, which will help in covering the cost of their university education.
